About Us
Thermoskin is a sheep care product developed by industrial chemist, Henry King of Down Under Technologies, after 5 years of research and trials in various parts of Australia. It is a lanolin based liquid that forms a fine environmentally friendly, totally natural film over freshly shorn sheep to keep them warm and help maintain the pre-shorn condition. Applying it is simple through a portable automatic spray unit.
- Henry has operated his own business since 1978 and has formulated and manufactured products for a diverse range of companies including multi-national corporations.
- He is extremely practical in his analysis and production of products due to his understanding of the commercial process.
- He continues to look for other cost effective, innovative ways to improve productivity and assist farmers to achieve better returns.
- Thermoskin Plus has been developed with an additive for protection from sunburn which is only made to order. The sunscreen active is expensive and requires a different method of manufacture which increases the cost of this version.
Over the past 30 years, Henry has met many sheep breeders and learned about the problems they face. The impact of cold weather on recently shorn sheep means that many suffer hypothermia and some die. Thermoskin is the answer and it is now an important sheep management tool that helps increase productivity by ensuring there is no check after shearing.
